Greetings MMAEC family! It is my pleasure to serve you as the school leader! This is my eleventh year in education and my fifth year specifically in educational leadership. Prior to becoming principal, my leadership experiences included director of special education, assistant principal at a center based program and I have been a school coordinator. Additionally, I hold six years of classroom teaching experience. Even with these amazing experiences, I have always remained a teacher at heart and I am truly excited to interact, teach and learn amongst the staff and students of MMAEC.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Special Education, Cognitive Impairment with endorsements in Elementary Education, Special Education K-12, Cognitive Impairment and Autism Spectrum Disorder K-12 from Eastern Michigan University. I obtained my Master of Arts in Teaching, focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorders from Madonna University. I also have a Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University.
By pursuing lifelong learning, I intend to be an example to students and teachers that we should never stop learning! My goal is to continue to provide a supportive climate and culture at MMAEC that is conducive to learning where staff, parents and the community continue to have high expectations. In doing so, it will allow us as a team to grow to our highest potential. I look forward to interacting with all stakeholders in our school community this year!
I am blessed to be a mother of two children to Harlyn who is four and-a-half and Andrew who is two. My husband Tom and I are excited for Harlyn who will be starting her educational journey at MMAEC attending preschool this fall! My husband and I will be celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary in October.
I am honored and excited to serve as School Leader to an amazing school community, and I look forward to providing all students with the opportunities and resources to achieve academic success!
