Great Things I Noticed This Week – September 12

Ms. Laryssa and her class participate in independent studies with her "Donut Disturb Me" headband.

I loved walking into the Elm Room this week and learning about Ms. Laryssa’s “Donut Disturb Me” headband. This allows students who are not directly involved in the grade level lesson to recognize that they need to raise a quiet hand, while they wait for Mr. Bruce to assist them.

As learners in the Montessori setting, students learn the value of independence. This makes them capable of making the right choices and seeking out learning on their own. In addition, students are also learning to support and help each other which builds a stronger sense of responsibility (character trait) and community, which we teach in every classroom.
